How I got here
I started Simple Advertising in 2023, after [brief origin story — what you were doing before, what made you start the agency]. The reason was simple: I kept watching small businesses get sold expensive marketing packages by big agencies, then get assigned to junior staff who didn't understand their business, and produce nothing.
The original idea was modest: do SEO and Google Ads for a handful of local businesses, do it well, and refuse to take on enterprise clients that would dilute the work. A curated network and 50+ clients later, that's still the model.
What I actually do
I'm the senior strategist on every client account. That's deliberate — when prospective clients tell me they were burned by previous agencies, the story is almost always the same: a great salesperson signed them up, a senior strategist did the kickoff call, and then they were handed off to a 23-year-old account manager who'd been at the agency for three months.
At Simple, every account gets direct access to me through monthly strategy calls, ad-hoc questions, and shared dashboards. Clients can text me. They have my mobile number after the first month. This doesn't scale infinitely, which is why we cap our client roster at [number] active accounts — and why we don't take Fortune 500 work.
How the work gets done
I don't pretend to be a one-person agency. I lead the strategy, but execution is delivered by a curated network of top-rated independent specialists — SEO strategists, developers, designers, and content writers across the network. Each project gets the right specialists for the work: a paid-media expert who lives and breathes Google Ads, a developer who specializes in your platform, a writer who knows your industry.
This is similar to the way modern in-house marketing teams operate — assemble the senior specialists for each piece of work, not hire generalist employees who get assigned wherever they're needed. The difference for clients is the quality of the work and the absence of the agency overhead that comes with maintaining a full in-house staff. Every freelancer on the team is paid market rate for senior independent work, which means our pricing reflects what real expertise costs — not agency markup on junior labor.

What I believe about marketing
The honest version, after our track record:
- Most "SEO secrets" are bullshit. The fundamentals — fast site, good content, real backlinks, consistent execution — produce 95% of results. Anyone selling tricks is selling something that won't last.
- Long contracts protect agencies, not clients. If the work is good, clients stay. If they're not staying, the contract should let them leave.
- Small businesses deserve senior people. The economics of agency work push talented strategists toward bigger clients. We deliberately fight that with our pricing and our refusal to take enterprise accounts.
- Reporting that hides losses is worse than no reporting. Live dashboards force honesty. Curated PDFs allow narrative control. We always pick the harder option.
- AI search is real and it changes the playbook. Businesses that don't structure content for ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Gemini citations will lose the next decade of organic growth. The work isn't optional anymore.
